Lecture & Discussion:
Namupa Shivute "Impact of German colonialism in Namibia and on coloniality"
Namupa Shivute (they/them) first looks at settler colonialism in present-day Namibia, which is closely intertwined with the genocide of the Ovaherero and Nama[1]populations in 1904-1908. The focus is then expanded to include the consequences for people who were categorised by the colonisers as women or "non-(cis)heteronormative". For with the spread of Christianity, European laws, education and orders were introduced that did not recognise indigenous social and economic structures, destroyed them, criminalised them or made them forgotten.
The lecture will be held in German. A whisper translation in English is offered.

Networking brunch on community care and activist networking with Namupa Shivute
Namupa is planning to set up a community centre in Swakopmund and will report on the plans. Furthermore, we want to talk about the connections between queer and decolonial activism and look at "community care" as an important part of activist struggles.
We will provide some goodies and are also happy to have something to bring for brunch. Our networking meetings are multilingual and we try to be self-organised with whispered translation to include all participants.
